“Mike captured beautiful photos that perfectly represent my brand. He took the time to chat with me over coffee about my business strategy, ideal clients, and the types of photos I wanted to capture. Mike also answered my many questions, and he made me feel confident going into my first photoshoot.

On the day of, Mike was extremely professional, and he made the experience fun and enjoyable.

I can’t wait to proudly showcase the photos on my website and social media accounts, and I would definitely recommend working with Mike!”

The Branding Portrait Process

Step 1

Inquiry Consult

We’ll chat over Zoom, and I’ll learn about who you are and your vision for the shoot! It’s a great time to ensure I’m the best brand portrait photographer for you.

Step 2

Custom Proposal

Every business requires something a little different and unique. This is the time I’ll craft your very own custom proposal.

Step 3

Contract & Invoice

Everything looks good? Perfect! Next, you’ll sign a contract and pay a 50% deposit.

Step 4

Planning Meeting

We meet for an hour and discuss logistics: wardrobe, styling, hair and makeup, location, props — everything you need to nail that vision! My goal is to have all the details figured out before your shoot so we can show up and have fun — that’s the aim of this experience.

Step 5

Shoot Prep

I’ll send over parking instructions and some practical tips to prepare for your session, like when to get a haircut, how to prepare your wardrobe, everything to make you feel like a million dollars!

Step 6

The Session

A quick pamper by the hair and makeup artist, and then it’s onto the main event! I’ll take you through all the poses we previously discussed, and it’ll feel more like a friendly get-together than a stuffy business meeting! Don’t forget, this is a collaboration — we’ll shoot tethered so you can see results in real-time and give me feedback as we go.

Step 7

Culling

After your session, I’ll get rid of the blurs, the blinks, and the bad shots that didn’t make the cut. I’ll narrow it down to the absolute best photos for you to go through.

Step 8

Proofs & Editing

I’ll share the images in an online gallery where you can select your favorites. Then, I’ll get into the nitty-gritty editing (skin blemishes, stray hairs, clothing wrinkles, and more).

Step 9

Delivery & Close Out

I’ll share the edited images in your own personal, private online gallery. Feel free to ask for revisions — this is your time to shine! Now grab those images, share them with the world, and shout it from the rooftops!

You can also watch the video below to see the process in action!

Frequently Asked Questions

Branding portrait sessions start at $1,600, which includes a planning session, hair and makeup, a 3-hour photo experience, and 10 edited digital files. Most clients spend about $1,000 on additional photos after their session.

I’ve created a series of blog posts to help — check out the summary page here.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone! Most people feel the same way. Know what else? It’s my job to make you feel FANTASTIC — guiding you through every pose (even what to do with your hands) to make sure it feels natural and totally comfortable. A lot of my free time is spent learning about human behavior and body language because I find it fascinating!

Are you light and bubbly? Then we won’t cross your arms. Are you a high-level executive who is super approachable and friendly? We’ll take pictures with the camera at eye level instead of looking up — a far more inviting pose. We’ll iron out all the details before so we know exactly what’s going to happen on the day. Remember, it’s my job to make the photos tell that story!

Yes, I do! I believe in photographing everyone in their best light (pun intended!). Everyone’s a little different: skin tone, body shape, personality, and more. Whatever the case, I promise to wholeheartedly listen to your concerns and shoot images that represent you. I’ve got a blog post where you can learn how I capture BIPOC portrait photography.

I’m a proud ally and supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and am happy to serve them. Full transparency: I don’t understand everything, and I definitely say the wrong thing occasionally. That said, I support this community 100% because we all deserve love, respect, and dignity.

The weather is fickle, there’s no denying that. Then again, if you live in Georgia, then you know that if you don’t like the weather, just wait another 30 minutes!

But what happens if we plan a session and the skies open up? We have two options — reschedule or try to wait it out. I purposefully do not put session dates in my contracts because of this exact reason.

Life and weather happen! I’m totally game to say, “Well it doesn’t look like today is gonna work. What’s your next available time?” Unless you want a rain-soaked session, we can always reschedule at no additional charge. I highly recommend checking out this blog post about what to do if it rains on your portrait session.

Life happens! I get it. That’s a reality, and I try to be as flexible as possible. So long as you let me know 8 or more days before the session, we can easily reschedule. If you let me know 7 or fewer days before the session, then there may be sunk costs including, but not limited to, studio or equipment rental fees. Additionally, sessions must be rescheduled within 6 months of the original session date. We’ll make it a conversation and figure out the best plan once you let me know you need to reschedule.

I get this question so often, so I wrote blog posts with tips on what to wear for your brand portrait sessions and what colors to wear for photos. Clothing should communicate and match your brand aesthetic. I’m happy to work with you to determine the best attire for your portrait session. And if you’re changing outfits, I can provide pointers to make it much easier. If getting hair and makeup done, I recommend wearing a button-down shirt so it’s easy to change afterward and avoid messing it up!

Every image receives global editing, AKA overall exposure, contrast, color, etc., when you receive them as proofs. Once you have gotten your proof images, you’ll pick a selection, and then I’ll perform the detailed Photoshop edits on those images. After that, you’ll receive access to the final selection of brand portraits. You can also ask for tweaks and revisions to the edits — I want to ensure you’re thrilled with your images.

Very soon! I turn around proof images in about one week of your session. After that, detailed edits take about a week to complete every 10 images.

Images are available at a high resolution, perfect for large prints up to 24×36″. All digital image files are downloadable via your own private online gallery.

Yes — I have a very rigorous and robust backup strategy to hold onto your images long-term after your session and your ordering appointment. Click here link to learn more about how long I hold onto images and my overall photo backup strategy.

During your branding photoshoot, I will connect my camera to my laptop to collaborate and review your images as we capture them. This lets you suggest tweaks to posing, expression, prop locations, lighting, etc., in real-time. I want you to know exactly what we captured before we wrap your session. Also, you can ask for three rounds of revisions and tweaks to your edited images in case I missed a detail, or you would like something slightly different.

I have a blog post that walks through other common concerns and comments I get from clients that may help!
