Shameless plug – it’s amazing when a client says, “I want you to be my wedding photographer. When are you available in October so I can book my venue accordingly?” No pressure to perform right?
Candace knew what she wanted for her wedding and I’m so thankful I was on that list. Other than it being unusually warm for an October wedding (thanks, Atlanta), the day was absolutely gorgeous. The venue, Crystal Falls Lake & Golf Club, provided an incredible scene to celebrate these two. One of my favorite moments was when Candace & LeRand exchanged a set of vows on opposite sides of a door. Candace was prepared with some beautiful words, but LeRand looked to wing it and brought it home.
One tricky aspect of the venue was the ceremony site and layout. The site was at the bottom of a football-sized field, sloping downward at some 20º. Thank goodness for long lenses, but I still got a workout trucking up and down that hill several times during the processional alone. It created gorgeous images and led to epic backdrops, so I guess I should just enjoy the workout I got!
The reception was a blast and led to my other favorite moment of the day. Candace and LeRand wanted a true celebration, so there were a number of lawn games available: giant Jenga, cornhole, and beer pong. Once the cake was cut and the toasts were made, the battle was on: Bride and bridesmaids vs Groom and groomsmen at beer pong and flip cup. I won’t mention who dominated the matches, but they all definitely had a blast and I got some images that I’ll never forget!
A funny note, I’ve somehow managed to shoot three weddings with Candace’s brother, Eric, as a groomsman. Every single one has been quirky, beautiful, and fun. I may start hiring him as my lucky charm!
Congrats to Candace & LeRand! Thank you for hiring me to be part of your incredible day!
Sorry gang! This feature is currently under construction. Check back in a few weeks and it should be up and running!
